How to download your Bench data
Year End Financial Packages and Tax Returns
What data is in these packages?
Any full calendar year of completed and reviewed bookkeeping with Bench will result in a
Year End Financial Package being available. This is the best data to download for that year, as it will include everything you need.
This package includes your Income Statement (Annual and Monthly), Balance Sheet (Annual and Monthly), Journey Entries, General Ledger, notes, and more. If you filed your taxes with BenchTax, any completed and draft Tax Return is available to you in the Bench app!
Note: Incomplete returns will clearly be titled "Draft Tax Return for YYYY- Not filed" If you do not see the tax document you need, please reach out directly to
benchtaxsupport@bench.co who are happy to assist.
Where can you download these documents?
You can find your Year End Financial Packages and Tax Returns by navigating to :
My Books > Documents > Processed Documents > Tax Folder
In the tax folder, you will find any of these documents available to you. You can hit the download button to download it.
Partial Year Reports & Transactions
For a current year to date or previous partial year, your individual reports are available for download at any time.
Income Statement (also known as the P&L - Profit and Loss Statement):
This report summarizes your financial transactions to show you how much you earned and how much you spent for a specific reporting period. You may also use the income statement to download transactions per category
Balance Sheet:
A balance sheet gives a snapshot of your financials at a particular moment in time. It incorporates every journal entry since your company launched. It can help you see the big picture: your business net worth, revenue, and where it’s kept. Your balance sheet is an essential report for getting investors, securing a loan, or selling your business.
This is also where you can download transaction level download per account
Where can you download these reports?
Income statement
Step1: Navigate to the income statement section of the app using the left navigation menu.
Step 2: At the top right, select the date range of the required year to date. For 2024 year to date, you can simply select ‘Last Year’ or enter a custom range. For specific information and support with selecting the correct date range, check out more information

Step 3: Select the ‘download’ button from the top right.
Step 4:Verify the selected date range
Step 5: Under ‘break down data by’.
> To export comprehensive data, we recommend downloading both by month and by year.
> A monthly report will include totals of all reported values in the statement per month, whereas the annual report will include totals at year end.
Step 6: Select download. Your report will now be available on your browser downloads.
Income Statement: Transactions per category
Step 1: Navigate to the income statement section of the app using the left navigation menu
Step 2: At the top right, select the date range of the transactions required.
Step 3: Click into the category you wish to download transactions for
Step 4: Select the ‘download’ button from the top right
> Navigate back to the income statement and repeat for any additional categories you require downloads for.
Balance Sheet
Step1: Navigate to the balance sheet section of the app using the left navigation menu.
Step 2: At the top right, select the date range of the required year to date.
> For 2024 year to date, you can simply select ‘Last Year’ or enter a custom range.

Step 3: Select the ‘download’ button from the top right
Step 4: Verify the selected date rangeUnder ‘break down data by’, select the best fit:
> To export comprehensive data, we recommend downloading both by month and by year.
> A monthly report will include all reported values in the statement by that month end, whereas the annual report will include values as of the end of the period.
Step 5: Select download. Your report will now be available on your browser downloads
Balance Sheet: Transactions per account
Step1: Navigate to the balance sheet section of the app using the left navigation menu.
Step2: At the top right, select the date range of the required year to date.

Step3: In the report, select and click into the account you wish to download transactions for.
Step 4: Select the download button once in the account breakdown view.
Step 5: Repeat for each account.
1099 Reports
Your bookkeeper may have provided a 1099 report to you if required for your business. This is used to report forms of non-employment income to the Internal Revenue Service. These reports are annual.
Where to find your 1099 reports completed by Bench
Step 1: In the Bench app, navigate to Tax Center -> 1099 Reports
Step 2: Select the year on the left side of the screen, then the download button on the right side. Repeat for each year.
> Note: 1099 reports are generated live, so make note of any incomplete years or unconfirmed transactions shown in this page.
