Bench Launches New Class with Skillshare

By The Bench Team on December 4, 2018

Bench surveyed over 1,000 small businesses and found that only 30% of entrepreneurs feel they have a “very good grasp on business finances”.

To help change that, Bench has partnered with Skillshare to educate small business owners about bookkeeping essentials with the class, Bookkeeping for Freelancers: How to Handle Your Finances.

This class will demystify bookkeeping and accounting, especially for freelancers and new entrepreneurs. The material will leave you with an understanding of why it’s essential to know where your money is going to and coming from, so you can run a profitable business.

The class is split into 10 short videos, so you can focus on the specific topic that interests you. Topics include:

  • What is bookkeeping, exactly?
  • Why bookkeeping matters for your small business
  • How to categorize business transactions
  • Cash basis accounting vs. accrual accounting

The class is taught by Emily Simcox, the Training Team Lead at Bench.
