When you're working with Bench, here's what you can expect

With Bench you'll have a North America-based team to take care of your bookkeeping for you using beautiful Bench software, so you can stay focused on running your business.

Here’s what working with Bench looks like

At the beginning of each month

We will work together to get the financial documents required to complete accurate, tidy books.

Getting the financial documents

We sync directly with most major financial institutions and automatically pull your statements into Bench; you won’t even have to think about getting us your bank or credit card statements.

For some financial institutions (like many credit unions) and services (like payroll), we’ll need a bit of help from you to get your documents each month. In most cases we can find a simple solution for you, regardless of which financial institution or service you use.

During each month

Once we have all the documents we need, we will finalize and complete your books within 15 business days.

Message us or book a call if you have a question

During these 15 days, it’s normal to have questions about your books. That’s why we’re here. Send us a message in Bench and we’ll get back to you within one business day. You can also book a call with your bookkeeper whenever you like.

We may need your help if we have questions about your transactions

While we are working on your books, we may need to request additional information about a transaction, especially while we’re getting to know your business. When this happens, your bookkeeping team will message you, asking for further details to help categorize the transaction in question.

At the end of each month

Once your books are complete, you’ll get a message from your bookkeeping team letting you know that your books are ready for review.

We find that it’s helpful to review your books together

For the first two months, we’ll ask to review your books with you over the phone. These review calls are a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about your financial statements. They also help us to familiarize ourselves with your business, and ensure you are getting the most out of your Bench service.

After this point, we’ll follow your lead and let you decide how often you’d like to connect with us on the phone. Remember, you can book a call with us at any time.

As your business changes

Your Bench subscription is based on your average monthly expenses and the steps required to ensure that your books are accurate.

If your average monthly expenses increase or decrease, or you require an additional add-on (for example, when you open an additional bank account), we may adjust your subscription to ensure that your books are getting the attention they need.

Your pricing will be reviewed annually and, if required, adjusted up or down.

We will always provide advance notice of any changes we need to make to your subscription.
