When you're working with Bench, here's what you can expect

With Bench you'll have a North America-based team to take care of your bookkeeping for you using beautiful Bench software, so you can stay focused on running your business.

Here’s what working with Bench looks like

At the beginning of each month

We will gather the financial documents needed to do your bookkeeping and produce accurate financial statements.

Getting the financial documents

Connect your accounts to Bench, and you won’t even have to think about getting us your bank or credit card statements. We sync directly with all major banks to automatically pull your statements into Bench, and we have other simple solutions to get your monthly payroll or merchant statements each month.


During each month

Once we have all the documents we need, we will finalize and complete your books within 15 business days.

We do your bookkeeping

Each month, your Bench team will work in the background, reconciling your accounts, categorizing your transactions, and producing your financial statements. They will also make any necessary adjustments to your books to ensure that they are tax-compliant.

Message us or book a call if you have a question

It’s normal to have questions about your books. That’s why we’re here. Send us a message via the Bench app and we’ll get back to you within one business day. You can also book a call with your team whenever you like.

We may need your input from time to time

While we’re working on your books, we may need to ask for your help to properly categorize a transaction. When this happens, your bookkeeping team will message you with a few categorization options to pick from. You can also add your own notes to explain what a transaction was for.


At the end of each month

Once your books are complete, you’ll get a message from your bookkeeping team letting you know that your books are ready for review.

We find that it’s helpful to review your books together

For the first two months, we will review your books with you over the phone. These review calls are a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about your financial statements. They also help us to familiarize ourselves with your business, and ensure you are getting the most out of your Bench service.

After this point, we’ll follow your lead and let you decide how often you’d like to connect with us on the phone. Remember, you can book a call with us at any time.

As your business changes

Your Bench subscription is based on your average monthly expenses and the steps required to ensure that your books are accurate.

If your average monthly expenses increase or decrease, or you require an additional add-on (for example, when you open an additional bank account), we may adjust your subscription to ensure that your books are getting the attention they need.

Your pricing will be reviewed annually and, if required, adjusted up or down.

We will always provide advance notice of any changes we need to make to your subscription.
